ADOPT-A-STREET

The state of California has an adopt-a-highway program, but Suisun City wanted a more local version of this and therefore Adopt-a-street was created. This program is designed to give our community a unique opportunity to not only volunteer, but to connect with community members and make our city a bit more beautiful.

MISSION

An Adopt-A-Street program will provide an avenue for enhanced community engagement and a meaningful opportunity for volunteers to remove trash and beautify the City in the highest visibility areas.

WHO CAN ADOPT-A-STREET?

We welcome any residents of Suisun City to adopt!
● Individuals
● Households
● Businesses
● Religious groups
● Community organizations

● Schools ( the school itself, or school clubs)
● Students/teachers

WHAT STREET CAN BE ADOPTED?

Since this is a formal program run by the City of Suisun, residents are able to adopt ANY street in Suisun City (given it fulfilled safety measurements). We would love for residents to take care of the MAIN streets in the city (scroll down to see names of targets streets that residents may prefer).

WHAT VOLUNTEERS DO

Volunteers will be given a clean up kit that consists of garbage pickers, gloves, garbage bags, and bright vests. They will be committing to removing trash off their adopted street for a minimum of six times a year for at least two years. Once trash bags are filled they will be put in a certain spot where they notify the volunteer program managers through email that there is a pile of trash bags filled ( must be filled at least 3⁄4 ) for the city to pick up. Volunteers are also encouraged to take pictures of their area and monitor any changes or disrupts.

THE ADOPTION PROCESS

  1. Contact volunteer program managers at adoptastreet@suisun.com
  2. Sign and complete forms
  3. Contract PDF
  4. Liability waiver PDF
  5. Forms are reviewed by volunteer program managers and processed.
  6. Once approved, the volunteer program managers will send a safety orientation
